  1. This project is very interesting and it looks like you have made a lot of progress! Am I right when I say that your stance is that even online cheating is not morally wrong? Also, what type of gamer are you? I can't wait for the definitions of the types so I can see what type I am. Keep up the good work and good luck!

  2. Actually, I do believe that online cheating is wrong. In fact, I plan on arguing that online cheating is the most unethical form of cheating. Hopefully I can get to that part of my paper during the course of these 10 weeks, but I would put myself in the category of a standard gamer.

  3. When you talked about the magic circle I was wondering if you thought that people can get so "hooked" on what they are playing that they bring those ethics outside of the circle into the real world? I feel like there are some people out there that merger there gamer life into real life and cannot differentiate between the two. I may be way off base here but maybe you can enlighten me a bit.

  4. You bring up an interesting point. I think a lot of what makes people addicted to a video game is not only the ability to have a second, fantasy life, but also the video games' magic circle allows one to explore a new world with new rules. This new experience that could never be actualized in our world becomes significant to the player. Perhaps this could be the reason for players bringing their ethics into the game. Ironically, with this possibility, the same reason for people bringing their ethics into a game, the magic circle, is the same concept that I will argue should prevent people from bringing their ethics into the game.

  5. I am curious if you have advanced or changed anything regarding the permeability of the magic circle for the purposes of your research? In other words, what do you consider necessary in terms of elements that must both be present in the real world or in virtual reality? No long answer is necessary, just curious if much has changed since our talk.

  6. Nope, not much has changed, I am just waiting before I finalize it because it is a critical part of the research. For those of you curious what we are talking about, you will just have to wait for the next draft.
